Tom Waits

Nog een greep uit mijn cd-kast. Een lied van mijn favoriete singer-songwriter, Tom Waits, van wie ik vrijwel alles op cd heb. Hij schrijft wonderlijke teksten, fantastische grooves, krankzinnige arrangementen en heeft een van de beste zangstemmen ooit voor zowel ruige rock als melancholische crooners.

Hier twee versies van Telephone call from Istanbul: de studioversie van Frank’s Wild Years en de live-versie van Big Time. De song wordt live opnieuw uitgevonden en verandert in een meeslepende versie waarop je MOET bewegen. Maar de melancholie is in de studioversie voelbaarder. Twee geweldige interpretaties van een geweldige song.
